Deliberations 2016(12)
Sometimes I feel like I have bitten
off more than I can chew! Sometimes I feel overwhelmed. Oftentimes I second-guess
the decisions I've made.... But here’s a double dose of encouragement:
1) A familiar story is told of a man
approaching Jesus and asking to surrender his cross—“it is too big”, “it is too
heavy”, he can’t carry it anymore. So Jesus tells him to take the cross to the
cross room, place it in through the front door, and choose another one from the
back door. The man goes around to the back, looks in dismay at all the HUGE
crosses and says, “I’ll take that little one near the front”. And Jesus says,
“But that’s the one you brought in!”
2) “It is not the power that emanates from men that makes the work
successful, it is the power of the heavenly intelligences working with the
human agent that brings the work to perfection. A Paul may plant, and an Apollos
may water, but it is GOD that giveth the increase. Man cannot do God's part of
the work. As human agents we may cooperate with the divine intelligences, and in
simplicity and meekness do our best, realizing that God is the great Master
Workman. Although the workmen may be buried, the work will not cease, but it
will go on to completion. The Christian always has a strong helper in the Lord. The way of
the Lord's helping we may not know; but this we do know: He will never fail those who put their trust in
Him”. (E. G. White, Christian Service).
So I struggle on…………. Carrying my
seemingly huge, but in reality smaaaall, cross. Be encouraged…….
